First off let’s explain was search engine results pages (SERPS) for those that may not completely understand search engine terminology.  Simply put its page that’s displayed after a user performs a search on a search engine. Now the uninitiated to dealing with search engines, may ask how we can improve something like that when the search engine controls what gets displayed not us. True the Search engine decides what to display, but many of the controlling factors from the web pages. Due to this you do have an input to how your page will display. To be honest you can control your own destiny. Since every site has the same input so you are not competing with a search engine your competing with other web pages.

ch_fluidH = 1;
ch_nump = “2″;
ch_client = “bukisa”;
ch_width = 300;
ch_height = “auto”;
ch_type = “mpu”;
ch_sid = “bukisa_rv_article_left”;
ch_backfill = 1;
ch_color_site_link = “#0000CC”;
ch_color_title = “#0000CC”;
ch_color_border = “#FFFFFF”;
ch_color_text = “#000000″;
ch_color_bg = “#FFFFFF”;

I would also like to point out that this article does not cover page rank, those of use that write here at Bukisa need not worry our mind with page rank as that’s a figure that advertisers look at and it has no bearing on how SERPS are displayed. Nor does PR help increase traffic, SERPS do this and since we make our money on traffic and not page rank we can let the folks at Bukisa worry about that, and in case are you wondering the front page is a 5 out of 10 but I digress. (I have never in my life used that word – digress but I seem to have been able to work it in today yes you can stand up and cheer, ok back to the point.)

Every time you begin a new article it’s a clean slate. In most cases if you write for Bukisa you are attempting to earn an income. When writing your main concern of course is a quality article. A quality article will yield long term results on its own merits. Your second concern has to be Search Engine Result Pages (SERPS). The reason is simple good SERPS equate to good money Excellent SERPS equate to Excellent money and I bet you can guess what bad ones do.

The first step is look at your title. Keywords are extremely vital. For example I was posed a question a while back about and article on another site and why the reviews where so good, but the results from search engines where not. The title of the article was “and now”, the first thing I do when reviewing a page for SEO is of course Google it. The Search Engine Result Pages (SERP brought 5,970,000,000 results yes that’s almost 6 billion pages! One may ask why does that matter, lets picture it this way, you enter a in a race and arrive at the start line to discover there are 5.9 billion contestants in the race.  Not only is it so crowded it may take months to even see the starting line, you have little or no chance to even be competitive. Those two words (and now) are way too generic and will not return a Search Engine Result Pages SERP of any value. Now the story was a wonderfully written article about a movie star of the 1940’s.  Due to a promise to the author I won’t mention the new name of the article since she seemed to be somewhat embarrassed on how poorly her articles where doing. However she followed my advice altered the article title and nothing else. She had been getting about 10 Google hits a month, when I talked to her two weeks ago she was getting 400-600 a day the new title was “The story of a (actors name withheld) a bio of her life then and now.” The article is now getting over 250 hits a day just on the actors name.

 Now I did ask her why she selected the old name for it and she replied “there are so many sites about and celebrity sites, I wanted to make sure I was included in all those searches.” This was where she went wrong in her thought process, I explained to her would you rather get 10 hits out of 6 billion results 1000 hits out of a 100000 results. The object is to narrow the field so you can you have a chance to compete.

The title is most of the battle the content also need keywords, but here is where one can go astray if they over do it. Keyword density can be spammed. Here on Bukisa we are required to have at least 250 words. While I have seen some so called SEO experts go to as much as 7% of the words on a page (that would be 17.5 times the keyword would appear in your article, I have advised for several years never go over 3% as there have been reports of penalties for pages with more  than that. One  resource I have found that be very helpful with counting keywords is http://textalyser.net/

Now about covers the easy part.  And at 800 plus words I am inclined to think you praying I am about to present my closing. The last part takes a bit more work. And it can be someone hard for those not used to running websites and blogs, but this method can put you over the top.

Locate place where you can blog for free or have a free website. Set up several 10 or 15 if you have the time, install wordpress or any other content management script like. Here is one I set up just for this article it took me 10 minutes http://writingformoney.limewebs.com/.

After you have the basic site or blog set up go to Bukisa and go to your article. Click on republish and copy and paste that to a post in the site. Be sure to either turn off the editor or go to source code.  If you have adsense you may even want to monetize these sites where allowed. I use free hosting and free blogs to do this. You can also get a free domains for place that require that at http://www.dot.tk/ but to keep these you do need some traffic going to the site. Do not be afraid to write a few blog entries on occasion that may boost traffic to these sites. Keeping these sites on topic is a great method to increase SERPS so if you have a lot of stories about one topic only post those articles there. Try not to make all the sites the same. Don’t be afraid to borrow other articles from your friends to post or even share these sites with several that write on related topics. Update them at least once a week so Google does not forget about them. WordPress seems to about the best with Google so try to use that.

Not every one can set up thier own blog or website there is a new site which I started this week that will authers of hot to or help articles post their link and or articals for free. This site is designed witht eh idea of increasing SERPS for content sites like Buskisa and I ahve set it up to allow authoer to simple us the republish link in htere artical and put the entire artical there with the links back to tyhe orginal. this new tool is at http://ehowto.tk abd while you can make a featured article for a fee the site also has a free submission system also.

Now I know I am this is not one of those short little how to articles that seem to fix all your problems in 250 words, but start to follow these methods and your will see your page views going up, and in the end game that’s what we all want
